The art therapy atelier welcomes patients who have been residing in the community for at least one month. The expressive activity complements and supports psychotherapy—without replacing it—through the relationship established between the patient and the art therapist, mediated by the visual product.
The use and development of means of expression and non-verbal communication free the participant's imagination, allowing for free associations and unconscious content that would otherwise remain unexpressed.
Drawing and, more generally, the use of artistic materials can be a valuable tool for overcoming psychological and social difficulties.
